Major trauma

  • Trauma is the commonest cause of loss of life for people aged below 44.
  • There are around 20,000 major trauma cases every year in England. That’s about 55 cases every day.
  • Research has shown that since the national major trauma network was introduced in 2010, around 20% of patients who would previously have died from their injuries are now surviving1.
